AFTERNOON SESSION: ARCHIVES AND MUSEUMS

 

ARCHIVE THEORY AND MICRO-MUSEOLOGY LECTURE

 

> OUTLINE OF ARCHIVE THEORY, FLAWS WITHIN THE ARCHIVE, EXPLORATION INTO HOW MUSEUMS AND MICRO-MUSEUMS CAN INFORM A RESEARCH AND DESIGN PRACTICE. EXAMPLES OF DESIGNERS WORKING FROM THE ARCHIVE.

 

ACTIVITY: GENERATE NEW MUSEUMS 

IN GROUPS, CURATE A NEW MUSEUM/ARCHIVE BASED ON A SELECTION OF OBJECTS FROM THE MAIN COLLECTION. INTERROGATE THE OBJECTS; ATTEND THEIR MEANING AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A COLLECTION. CONSIDER THE CURATOR/VISITORS/LOCATION/ORGANISATION/PURPOSE OF THE COLLECTION. DOCUMENT THE NEW MUSEUMS THROUGH COLLAGE AS A METHOD OF WORLD-BUILDING.
